Chlorine and chloramine
Many cities disinfect water with chlorine or chloramine. Both can leave a taste and odor at the tap.
Symphony systems with carbon cartridges are certified to NSF/ANSI 42 for chlorine taste and odor reduction. If your city uses chloramine, the Symphony 1B and 2B use FLT-CSS-4B33X cartridges for chloramine.
Check your water utility report to see which disinfectant your city uses.
Bathing and showering: because Symphony filters at the point of entry, showers and baths get the same filtered water as the kitchen tap, with less chlorine taste and odor.
The first stage also includes Active Armour™ conditioning, designed to reduce scale on shower heads and fixtures in internal testing. Active Armour™ is a water conditioner, not a water softener.
